It's kinda nice that they have some kind of motion blur, it seems, and gives some dynamics to the whole picture, and contrasts with the "island", which seems to be very static. And that's visually nice. It's like a long-exposure photo. 
you could use this effect in future works, it's nice, especially if you learn how to control it in your advantage. at first, i couldn't say what's exactly i liked about this work of yours, now i can actually put my finger on it
